As part of its activities, Japan Desk Scotland plans and organises Scotland-themed workshops at universities and other organisations in Japan.

JDS screened ‘St Kilda Tapes‘ at Iwate University, Fukushima University, and Kunohe Village Hall, Iwate, Japan. At the two universities, the screenings were followed by discussion-based workshops.

JDS screened ‘Our Scotland: A Japanese perspective‘ at Kochi University, Kochi, Japan, and Fukushima University, Fukushima, Japan, and ‘Our friends in Fukushima‘ at the former. These screenings were followed by discussion-based workshops.

JDS ran a five-day Scotland study tour for eleven high school pupils from Kunohe Village, Iwate, Japan, including a visit to Cumbernauld Academy, North Lanarkshire, Scotland.
