The sixth anniversary of the Tohoku (East Japan) Earthquake was marked on Saturday 11 March 2017 at Wellington Church, Glasgow, Scotland.
It was organised jointly by Japanese Matsuri for Glasgow (a recognised Scottish charity), Wellington Church and Japan Desk Scotland, as a part of Japan Matters 2016/17.
Japan Desk Scotland’s fifth documentary on Fukushima, ‘Borders in Fukushima – July 2016‘, was shown and rev Dr David Sinclair, Minister at Wellington Church, offered a prayer. The event was closed by singing a hymn, ‘Tsunami’, written by David Sinclair. £95 was raised at the event, which will be sent to Fudai and Noda Village Offices, Iwate Prefecture, both affected by the tsunami, by Japanese Matsuri for Glasgow.
